Lyrical ballet, a blues routine and moves to a Janet Jackson song will be featured at Palo Duro High
School's Spring Festival of Dance on Friday and Saturday.

Shows will begin at 7 p.m. each night in the auditorium on the PD campus, 1400 N. Grant St.

Tickets cost $2 and can be bought at the door. Children 10 years old or younger  will be admitted free.
Discounted tickets for groups of five or more also are available.

Teens in Palo Duro's dance program, which is open to high-schoolers across the Amarillo Independent
School District, learn a variety of dance styles, work with many guest artists and conduct performances
throughout the year, according to information from teacher Jina Rollins.

For the spring festival, students have prepared numbers including choreography to Jackson's song,
"If," blues music from the "Jack Frost" movie soundtrack and a modern dance number from the
soundtrack to the movie, "Practical Magic," the information said.

Tascosa High School graduate Jim Wilson, who now performs professionally throughout the United States,
will provide accompaniment to the lyrical ballet. Wilson now lives at Sherman Oaks, Calif., the release said.

Local studio owner and dance instructor Leslie Webb continues her collaboration with Rollins and the
dance program. Webb has choreographed two selections for the recital, including one from the
"Prince of Egypt" film soundtrack, the release said.

Bruce Ballard, who has performed across the country and taught dance at Amarillo College, also has
been working with students on a dance for the show, the release said.

"Students are very fortunate to work with these gifted professionals who donate their time and talent,"
Rollins said in the release.

Dancers with at least two semesters of dance experience also have choreographed their own pieces
for the festival.

Begun five years ago, the program's costume collection has been built primarily through student
fund-raisers, the release said.

"Special effects are also used, which complete the full experience for audience members," the release said.
